(Surah Al-Hashr – Ayat 7)

Welfare Economy: Illuminating Sirat al-Nabi for Prosperous Societal Growth

Respected guest, Dr Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti Sahib. Respected Dr. Aniq Ahmad Sahib. Respected guests, ladies and gentlemen. I am grateful to the organizers of the National Seerat Conference for allowing me to speak on the topic of establishing a prosperous economy in light of Seerat-un-Nabi. Respected listeners, A prosperous economy is a field of economy in which the application of financial economy is based on human prosperity. In this field, the topic of distribution of means of livelihood and the effects of economic development in human society by accepting the differences in the right to livelihood and the levels of livelihood is included fairly. In a prosperous economy, the attainment of social and economic prosperity is based on the economic activities of each individual in the society. In which, the accumulation of wealth without fulfilling legal obligations and the possession of wealth in the special individuals or classes is based on the circulation of wealth, in the form of Zakat, inheritance, Waqf, and spending in the way of Allah.

Welfare Economy: Fostering Equitable Livelihoods Through Sirat al-Nabi’s Guiding Principles

In a prosperous economy, the means of development of trade, industry, and agriculture are provided in a way that does not affect the social benefits. Because society is at its best when all its members benefit from it in such a way that it does not create the possibility of other people’s loss in the form of further benefit to a particular individual. In a prosperous economy, the means of livelihood are supported based on the principles of the common brotherhood, while rejecting the tribalism of the region. In this way, the society is possibly more prosperous. The Mercy of the Universe has highlighted two aspects in its clear teachings about the means of livelihood.

Number one, the effort to obtain a lawful livelihood has been regarded as worship.

Maarif ul Hadith - Hadith No. 214
Maarif ul Hadith – Hadith No. 214

(Maarif ul Hadith – Ayat 214)

Whoever seeks the world lawfully, and seeks to obtain the means of livelihood through the lawful means of society, وطاعف فن عالی عن المسئلہ and seeks to avoid asking the question of the matter, and seeks to provide a comfortable livelihood for his family, and seeks to help his neighbour, then he will find Allah in such a state that his face will shine like the moon.”

The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has declared the effort to obtain lawful means of livelihood as the Sunnah of the Prophets and has discouraged the thought of considering the seemingly ordinary tasks as a burden. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,

The food you eat by working hard is the purest food.

The Prophet who kissed the hand of hard work, the Prophet who put his hand in the pocket of the beggar and put him on the path of hard work, the same leader told us that Adam (peace be upon him) was a farmer, Abraham (peace be upon him) was a cloth trader, and Daud (peace be upon him) وَ عَلَّمْنٰهُ صَنْعَةَ لَبُوْسٍ لَّكُمْ was a defender. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has worked with many people in business.

Surah Al Anbiya - Ayat 80
Surah Al Anbiya – Ayat 80

Welfare Economy: Embracing Social Cohesion through Generosity and Financial Equity in Light of Sirat al-Nabi

Dear listeners, the second aspect of the revival of livelihood is very important. I would like everyone’s attention to be drawn to this. In this, guidance has been given to the people who have the means of livelihood, to share the means with those people whose efforts to obtain livelihood have not been fully rewarded. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to the rich people in the society,

Surah Al-Ma'arij - Ayat 24-25
Surah Al-Ma’arij – Ayat 24-25

(Surah Al-Ma’arij – Ayat 24-25)

“There is a certain right in their wealth and wealth for the poor who shows his need, and for the needy who does not express his need to anyone.” The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to the wealthy class of society,

Surah An-Nur - Ayat 33
Surah An-Nur – Ayat 33

(Surah An-Nur – Ayat 33)

“And give them of that which Allah has given you.”
Surah Al-Hadid - Ayat 7
Surah Al-Hadid – Ayat 7

(Surah Al-Hadid – Ayat 7)

“And spend of that which Allah has made you in a position of success.”

The Holy Qur’an states stated the most important virtue after faith is to build a society based on social cohesion. The true virtue is to give your wealth to relatives, orphans, poor people, travellers, and beggars, and spend it on the liberation of the neck(Slaves). The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,

Surah Al-Balad - Ayat 11-13
Surah Al-Balad – Ayat 11-13

(Surah Al-Balad – Ayat 11) “And give them of that which Allah has given you.”

Then why were they not able to enter that valley? The valley of liberation from depression, anxiety, well-being, and success.

(Surah Al-Balad – Ayat 12) “And what do you know of that valley?”

“You have to free someone’s neck.”

Or in the time of poverty and hardship, feed your relatives, orphans, or poor people.

Conclusion for Welfare economy in the light of Sirat al-Nabi

Dear listeners, there is a sense of tightness of time, so I will read the message of Allah to all the people of wealth through the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)

Surah Noor, verse 22

Surah An-Nur - Ayat 22
Surah An-Nur – Ayat 22

(Surah An-Nur – Ayat 22)

And let not those who possess dignity and ease among you swear not to give to the near of kin and the needy, and fugitives for the cause of Allah. And let not those who possess dignity and ease among you swear not to give to the near of kin “suffer such a punishment that they will not give anything to their relatives, the poor, or those who migrate in the way of Allah. “And they should seek protection and help from the help of the helpers.” “Do you not desire that Allah should grant you forgiveness?”

Allah is the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful. After listening to this verse, Sayyidina Siddiq-e-Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him) made a double agreement of the state of the people and the love of the people. He said, “O Allah, we certainly desire that You should grant us forgiveness.”

For the establishment of a prosperous life, the Pakistani nation needs both of these steps. “Come, let’s make our hard work, which is one of our two national values, hard work and satisfaction, our symbol.” The respected leader said, “Work, work and work.” “And come, let’s act upon the example of Siddiq-e-Akbar so that the effects of a prosperous life can be seen prominently in the society.”

Thank you very much. JazakAllah. This was Dr. Sarfraz Ahmad Awan. We have benefited from his thoughts. Thank you very much.
